Every parent wants their children to grow up and leave the ânestâ to live their greatest life and start a family. Seeing kids grow and leave home is wonderful and bittersweet.
Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith went through that phase, and although they expected their independent and mature son Jaden to want to live on his own at 16 or 17, they still found it hard when he asked to âleaveâ on his 15th birthday.
Jaden was born famous. His celebrity parents ârobbedâ him and Willow of a normal childhood.
âPeople treat me like Iâm not a normal human so often,â Jaden told Dazed Magazine in 2018.
He made skater friends and fit in. âIf I wasnât famous and didnât have all this sh** going on, and I didnât have to fly to all these various locations all the time, I would just be here with these guys, every day simply skating. âMy vibe,â he said.
Will, his father, told BBC Radio 1Xtra: âJaden is 100 percent brave.
Anything. Scares parents. Nonetheless, he lives and dies by his aesthetic choices.â
Jaden may have asked his mother to allow him leave due to such behaviour. Jada discussed tr*umatics on Red Table Talk. âAt 15 years old, Jaden, and I remember this day well, itâs probably one of my most sad times,â Jada remarked. âYou said, âMom, I have to leave here to live my life.
Emancipation at 15 required parental consent. Jada anticipated a good day. Adrienne Banfield-Norris, co-host of Red Table Talk, stated she would never allow such if she were Jada. Adrienne isnât the only one who evaluates the Smithsâ âstrangeâ parenting.
Jada knows her kids best. âKnew. His age. âHe was making filmsâhe could truly manage his life,â she said.
âEvery child has unique demands. He wanted out. I understood. I experienced freedom outside the bubble. I knew releasing him would accelerate his return.â
Jaden, 23, will live with his parents until 2017. He owns a $4 million property five minutes from his parents.
The end. Iâm staying. Jaden told Ellen DeGeneres in 2013 that this house is free. âHis house has everything,â he joked. â[Will] says I can get my own house when I make a better movie.
